She only sang it after Larry Lynch, Robbie Dunbar, and Jim Thorsen (the band we used on the recording) insisted. Linda appeased all of us and sang brilliantly. The juxtaposition of words and the inflections of her voice make this much more than a ditty. It's super sophisticated singer/songwriter.
