Son Of Pete says:Believe me, successful as Son of Pete, the king of porn rock, I never dreamed my second 45 was going to be a patriotic collaboration with J.P. Sousa. But there I was walking thru an antique player piano exhibit in Fort Mason when a player piano with a one man band caught my eye. It had an unbelievable array of instruments. I was with the Pop Music Editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, Joel Selvin. He had been sent to cover the exhibit. I got him to have the piano fired up. What happened next was a kick ass version of "Stars and Stripes Forever." The music stuck with me. Within several hours, I had permuted the "Be kind to our web footed friends" lyric, and I decided to use this player piano as the backing tracks for my next recording. While the exhibit was closed one evening, Glen Kolotkin, the world famous recording engineer, brought a two track recorder and two microphones to the exhibit hall. We recorded the piano in stereo in all it's glory. One thing of note, once Glen got the levels sorted out, we only needed one take. The vocals and chorus were added at C.B.S. Studios Folsom Street. So my second 45 came to be. It was released on The Fourth of July of our country's bicentennial celebration. - Matthew
