Dr. Mario
hip hop, freestyle, comedy
"Dr." Mario, huh? I bet he can get you some mushrooms. This song features a smooth bassline and a marathon of Nintendo-related freestyle rapping. Ever wondered what a rap battle between Mario and Luigi might sound like? Or what it would sound like if Toad imitated Jay-Z? It's a 6-minute session capped off by an unexpected cameo by one of TV's most beloved doctors... Huxtable, son!
Eastern Western
rock, power pop, grunge, spaghetti western, comedy
This song started out as a song for the soundtrack to a spaghetti western film and later progressed into becoming a fuzzed out and grungy rock song intermingled with shouts of "YAH!" and "Whoa!" In the middle section of the song, there is a spoken word section during which a story about cowboys and rattlesnakes is told followed by a seamless transition back into rocking out. This was recorded live.
Metal Gear
hip hop, underground, beats, Math Rap
Metal Gear is a song based on the NES game of the same name. The beat is in 5/4 time. Walkie Talkie sound effects and vocal distortion make this song really resonate with the feel of the video game.
Mario 2
rock, jazz, psychedelic, middle eastern
Mario 2 is a song about the NES game of the same name. Sung in a Captain Beefheart or Tom Waits style, It takes you on a journey into the psyche of Mario as he proceeds on his nonsensical quest through this confusing and surreal game. Mario just keeps on fighting because after all, "all he knows is left to right."
