Bettie Black says:I was channeling something when I wrote this song. I kept hearing different phrases like "Bright As We Can Shine" and "Mother of the World." I was also turning 40, and realizing I probably won't be having kids. I saw such images of suffering on TV - hardship of families, women and children all around the world with the outbreak of war and natural disaster. This song reflects my view of the world, both personal and political, in the year 2005.
