Jazz Lips
jazz
A conversation occurred on "Jazz Lips" between Louis on trumpet, and Kid Ory on trombone. Accurately named, because you'd better put on your jazz lips when conversing with a great like Satchmo! Songs like these light up the era during which the roots of jazz where rinsed, washed and shined, leaving a glowing piece of American cultural history.
King Of The Zulus
jazz
Leave it to Louis to make something out of being interrupted while he's recording. Clarence Babcock stops Satchmo during a solo to demand a tasty dish (I think). Absurdity to tranquility, and back around again. Louis goes completely berserk and turns the intensity of his solo up to 10!
Muskrat Ramble
jazz, roots
Louis Armstrong and his Orchestra was familiar with a plethora of European and British jazz clubs in the 1950s. Satchmo and crew had all the facilities to make any club bend to their likeness.
Heebie Jeebies
jazz, big band
This may have been one of the first scat vocal tunes recorded in response to forgetting the actual lyrics! I'm sure Louis could have done it right the second time. But it just wouldn't have been the same. You too will soon experience what it's like to have the heebie jeebies!
