Louis Armstrong had such a huge cultural impact that after 35+ years since his death he's still a household name. Like most black jazz musicians at the turn of the 20th century, Louis was born poor in New Orleans. He continued to perform and record up until his death often rivaling the most popular musical acts of the 20th century such as The Beatles.
