It Takes Money
by The UPTONES
pop, rock, rock n roll, power pop, ska

Fun Fun Fun Recordings says: I first heard this monster song, when the Rev. Paul Jackson wrote and performed it with Hobo. This "Hobo era" was a very interesting evolutionary step for the current Uptones, even though no one realized it at the time. The high school version of the Uptones dissolved as the band members went their own ways. Some went to college, some started playing jazz, Eric, Paul, and Ben went on to form a four piece band, they called themselves Hobo. Hobo played around the Bay Area and toured the Northwest with a modest degree of success. Paul, Eric, and Ben perfected their skills and wrote some great songs even though Hobo never became the famous band we all hoped it would. "It Takes Money" is one of those great songs. The impassioned vocal performance from the Rev, and the killer horn line make the Uptones' version really work for me. I hope it works for you too.
