Swallow rock A lot of people have told me this was their favorite Sex For Moderns song. The Swallow/Capistrano rhyme is truly something else, and the song is tres chic. The Rhythm section, Hillary and Mike are ultra solid, and are a great foundation for the guitar work of Steve and Jon. - Matthew
Stop The Clock pop, rock Not enough can be said about just how sexy Sex For Moderns really are. "Stop The Clock" is undeniably dripping, oozing, and drenched in sex. And that includes the sexiest guitarist, Steve Kirk. His guitar playing and arranging are magnificent. And Jon Hanes is truly the sexiest vocalist I've ever worked with. - Matthew
Seed Of Love pop, rock This song is a great! I mean everything about it is great! The lyrics are simple and compelling. The music is driving and hypnotic. The guitar tones are amazing. Hats off to Michael Rosen, who recorded this beast at the now defunct TML studios in Hayward, California.
I'm Frying rock This song was radio hit in the Bay Area. It's a classic. We've all been there, unless we're John Ashcroft. When a former drummer becomes the lead singer, you can be guaranteed the drummer he selects is going to kick _ss. Mike Simms is just that drummer, and Michael Rosen got some killer sounds in the studio.
Candy Dish pop, rock Naughty, naughty. We all know the "Candy Dish." This is another genius song from Sex For Moderns, written and sung by Jon Hanes. After a his stint as the drummer in Pearl Harbor and the Explosions, Jon stepped out front and Sex For Moderns was born. He's really got it! The whole band, Jon, Hillary Hanes, Steve Kirk, and Mike Simms really got it! How great! - Matthew
Mr. Ed pop, rock This song about a talking horse is one on the novelest pieces of music I've ever worked on. Sex For Moderns is a brother band, and there's usually nothing tighter. Jon and Hillary were "The Explosions" in Pearl Harbor and the... The music everyone performs is stupendous, and Michael Rosen did a great job recording it.
Penetrating Love Ray pop, rock Can I mention how much I love this song. Usually after I mix a song, I've heard it enough for the rest of my life, but not this one. The guitars, drumming, bass line, and insane vocal keep me coming back. This recording goes a long way to prove: it's not the size of the studio for the band, it's the size of the band in the studio.
