    About

Based in Northern California, Plasterkatz is the rising force in powerpop indie rock, playing upbeat music that gets crowds jumping. Fusing original high-intesity rock with traditional music from around the world, the band is renowned for its dynamic and electrifying shows.

This five-member band uses an eclectic variety of instruments, from standard drums-guitar-bass to mandolin, violin, harmonica, saxophone, theremin, bodhran, stand-up electric bass, banjo, megaphone, washboard, djembe, dumbek, spoons, the cool side drum, slide whistle, penny whistle, recorder, ukulele, cabasa, shushooka, keyboards, synthesizer, and concertina. Featuring both male and female lead vocals, the repertoire consists of songs written by every band member, as well as traditional songs dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

Plasterkatz has been touring for four years, and recently released their long-awaited, independent debut album, Past Due. Their acclaim has traveled across the oceans to as far away as Hawaii, Ireland, and Switzerland. With decades of musical disciplines behind each member, their experience varies from standard rock and roll to traditional folk to classical training.

Plasterkatz performs regularly at such San Francisco Bay Area venues as Ireland's 32, Hotel Utah, Blake's on Telegraph, The Rickshaw Stop, and The Mystic Theater in Petaluma. The diversity of their music has a wide-spectrum appeal that has generated a loyal following.

All five band members take pride in their ability to open beer bottles with any object you put in their hands. Bear Ears. Capitalized.
